off topic question for fellows in the uk

Postby DAVID THOMPSON » Sat Jan 17, 2009 11:35 pm

the tv show Rosemary and Thyme is showing in the usa on public tv
the ladies drive a small truck with left hand drive to haul there garden plants
can any one tell me what it is and who made it .....
there is nothing like it sold over here
and the left hand drive caught my attention on a British TV show
as odd
its in the style of an old jeep or the vw 181 but more square
plain but nice daily driver with no top

I think it's an E-Z-Go Industrial 881, which is basically an electric golf cart. Try googling it, probably US manufacture. Hope this helps.

It is a Renault Midliner S-150 truck. Take a look at Google for more details.

Our spamming friend brought this topic to my attention.

Had a look at http://www.imcdb.org/movie_377253-Rosemary-and-Thyme.html which lists vehicles used in films and television. Only truck fitting the descrption is the E-Z-Go http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_121323-E-Z-Go-Industrial-881-1999.html Is this the one you mean?
Website has lots of bikes as well, check out the MZs http://www.imcdb.org/vehicles.php?make=mz&model=&page=1
It does miss the appearance of an ES 150 a couple of times in the background of the French film, Le Mari de la Coiffeuse (The Hairdresser's Husband), one of my favourites.

still not found the right one the ezgo 881 is not it

its more like a vw thing (181) but not the same may be an export land rover with no top
it looked like it had the drop down bed sides like an old vw truck sold in the usa
in the 1960's or on a vespa 3 wheeler flat bed truck but 4 wheels and left hand drive

Hi Dave, according to the list of vehicles used in the production of the series it is an E-Z-Go Industrial 881. Try- IMCDB.org and put rosemary & thyme in the search box.

Could it be a Citreon Mehari? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citro%C3%ABn_M%C3%A9hari many of the shows where recorded on the continent, which would explain the left hand drive.

What we need is an episode that it appeared in then we can all watch it on youtube and see if we can identify it!
ES250 Doppelport, ES250, ES250/1, ES250/2,ETS 250, ES150, ETS150, BK350, IWL Pitty, SR56 Wiesel, SR59 Berlin, Troll............ and thats just the German two strokes!

It's definitely not a Mehari. Apart from anything else, a T prefix on the registration will place it at 1999, and the last Meharis were made in the early 80s.

I think EZGO must be the manufacturer, as the listing on the link above is taken from www.vehiclelicense.gov.uk which allows you to search the government's vehicle registration database. The website doesn't list the model though, unfortunately!

It's not one, but it also bears a resemblance to a Steyr-Puch Haflinger, which is worth Googling if you like that sort of thing!
