MZ/MuZ Riders

I made a new years resolution this year to ride at least once
a month. Got 250 miles on the 'zed for Jan! Not too shabby
for being a nor'easter. 35 degree riding for the most part.

This is what I've found out about this bike that is unique to
other bikes that I've run year round:

The bike is incredibly easy to wash off. No worries about salt
crud on the forks and chain (enclosed). No heavy chrome stuff
that looks like crap this time of year till spring to clean. Little
soap and water and clean..

Ive noticed that the bike is incredibly nimble in the mud too. I
can rip up the forest roads easy.

So far, the bikes charging system can hold my electric vest. This
cuts the chill big time.

All in all, Im digging the MZ thing. Other than the parts availibilty,
Id say it's a steal. The F650 was my first chioce till I saw the Saxon
(and pix on the internet of F650s that had the forks blow off in
motion.. yikes!)

I can relate!!
3 feet of snow a couple of weeks ago and the roads are now clear and it's going to be warm ( 30 degrees ) the next few days so I'll take a couple of rides probably starting today.

Welcome aboard the "ride it anytime" crew.
My Tour is my main form of transportation, so it's ride or don't go to work.
I do chicken out when the roads tend to be icing (I'm crazy not stoopid) and "steal" the car back from my son.
Coldest so far; 15 degrees in the AM on the way to work.
Windshield, snowpants and only 12 miles to ride, not to bad.
I wear a Scorpion EX-700 helmet, it's fun to watch the ventilation system pull the fog up when I breathe out. Looks like the streamers in a wind tunnel

winter is doable used to all the time 1970 to 1995 with a bmw r50s
it goes good and very forgiving when your on a slick spot

as for the 650 bmw rode one at bmwmoa rally in charleston wv
and was not impressed the test ride bike i had was a very ruff ride
i was not a happy camper with it

Gotta agree about the BMWs. I rode a R60/5 for five years while stationed in S. Korea - COLD winters. It had full Vetter fairing and I wore a snowmobile suit, never felt the cold. I was a bit younger then. Now it needs to be at least 40C-50C before I venture out.

Holy crap, that looks like it came off Elvis's bike. It must have
taken forever to set all those studs. Wonder how it is in the snow.
Personally, Id leave the bike in the garage before if the weather
called for tires like that. I pretty much have the rule that the roads
must be dry before I take out on the bike.

Bill,a couple of weeks back I got a Scorpion EX-400 for $100 shipped and today got to try it for the first time.

They usually cost about $200 and it's the best helmet I have ever had !! The sale is still going I'm thinking about getting another.

I went with the 700 'cause I wanted the Hi-Vis yellow paint job.
So far, the best I've ever worn also. For the money, can't beat 'em.
I'm saving up for an EX-900. It's a modular flip-up, they've added the Hi-vis paint and it has "drop-down" sun-shades (gotta have my gadgets

Are you anywhere near Marshfield? I ride up that way a good bit in
the summer. Got friends up in the northeast kingdom and down in
S Royalton. In fact, my buddy in Marshfield has a 500 Country he rips
around on.

A coupla years ago I ran out a chain and rear tire on the way back
from the Gaspe and Moshinski Motorsport hooked me up! I hear
the place closed down. That guy Bob Moshinski was one of the
biggest characters Ive ever run across. Hilarous. Half his shop was
Beatles memoribilia.

Out today for the first time in three weeks , biggest problem has been freezing rain, people getting to the village shop on hands and knees. Beautiful pictures of your home state.

Thanks George,how many years has it been since you have seen a winter in the UK like this one.
I read a lot about the snow in the UK this winter.
Even here in the states there's a lot of snow where they don't hardly ever have snow .The ironic thing is the Olympics start soon in Vancouver,Canada and I hear they don't have much snow.Crazy weather for sure...John

1981/2 was the last bad winter over here but I was in a much much hotter climate at the time. Snow is rather like a policeman, you can never find one when you want one, but if you don't want one they are all over you like a rash!
