'97 MZ Traveller for Sale $1,500 USD
Still for sale, green in color, looks good, runs good, has fairly
high miles 108,000 miles (my '03 F650 BMW now has 140,000+ miles).
Still a terrific little bike, just needs to be ridden. Located in
Southern California, near Julian, which is near San Diego. Phone
(760)765-2763. Leave a message if interested, I'm rarely home.

108,000 miles? Just curious what you have done over the years to maintain this. Can you post a photo?

Dave, if it had a belt drive, I sure would. I probably wouldn't change anything else, a wonderful little bike.

Sandberg, just normal maintenance for the engine. I replaced the shock twice and the speedo once. I replaced the waterpump at 44,000 miles, but there was nothing wrong with it, there was a hose leaking up higher and dripping off the pump. I was in a hurry at the time, getting the bike ready for the annual Daytona trip and just didn't take the time to diagnose it properly. I'm still running the original air filter, I just tap it out every 4,000 miles. I replaced the spark plug at 50,000 and 100,000 miles and that's it. Other than fork seals, I've never replaced any seals or bearings. I replaced a couple of swingarm guards at 10,000 and 20,000 miles, then made one out of an old tire and it's still on there. At every tire change, I squirt a little 90 weight gear oil under the wheel bearing seal lips with a syringe. I squirt the clutch cable pivot at the handlebar lever with a little chain lube once a week. I changed the brake pads at 100,000 miles, they weren't down to the metal yet, but close. I try to never use the brakes, I use the gearbox instead. The BMW's pads are still the originals @ 140,000 miles, I'm gonna try and make 150,000 miles before I change them.

I would highly recommend the Scorpions to anyone who wants a very dependable bike and don't mind taking care of a chain. I ride about 1,000 miles a week and find a chain to be just too much bother. I changed the belt on the BMW at 90,000 miles and up to that time, it required no maintenance. I like the belt even more than the old shaft drives, which I put millions of miles on. If you'll send me your e-mail address, I send a photo in an attachment. Send to djncooleyATjuno.com.
