660 SKORP

Postby Andy_C » Tue Sep 22, 2015 9:26 am

Hi there.

I managed to wreck my 660 Skorpion in an accident a short while ago. Insurance are not willing to repair it and depending upon their decision I have the remains to sell.

I thought that this would be the best place to tentatively advertise the bike.

I had a low speed ( under 30MPH accident) which totalled the lefthand side of the fairing, and made a small hole in the alternator case. It also wrecked the top half of the fairing, headlamp and speedo, apart from that I cannot see any other obvious signs of damage. It had a recent (less than 1000 miles ago) rear tyre and a wheel bearings were also replaced along with some other bits and pieces and was running very well prior to the accident.

My view is that is it repairable, but to be honest I cannot be bothered. Assuming that the insurers are willing to let me have the bike, I'll be asking around the £400 quid mark for it it's worth that for spares alone. Remember this is tentaive and is dependant upon the decision of my insurer which could of course take some time !!

Anyone who is interested please either reply to this posting or drop me an email. The bike is located in somerset and you can view the bike being ridden by me by looking at

A quick update to the 2 of you who have expressed an interest.

Insurers are STILL dragging their heels and it looks like dragging on for at least another 2 - 3 months.

I still have the bike, and it will be for sale.

Cheers.

Hi Andi,

I'd be grateful if you would add me to your list of interested parties for when the insurance matter is resolved.

Re: 660 SKORP - AN APOLOGY

Postby Andy_C » Fri Feb 12, 2016 2:29 pm

Situation with Insurers is now resolved which includes me keeping what has been classified as a Cat C write off.

I stripped the broken pieces away and took a close look at it and all it needs is are new instruments, headlight and alternator cover to get it back to roadworthy condition - forget the fairing !

So to be honest I am going to get it back on the road again as it's such an enjoyable bike to ride, and working on it has re kindled my enthusisam.

Apologies to all of you that showed an interest in buying the bike.

If I change my mind again after I have it back on the road, rest assured it wil be advertised here and if it is advertised it WILL be to sell it.

Cheers.

David,

Managed to buy a pair of original instruments for a very reasonable price ! Very lucky.

So an RT125 headlamp fits, are you also saying that a Gussi ne would also fit - any particular model ?

Was just thinking of buying a generic 7" headlamp if all else fails.

You are right parts are getting expensive. Shopyime is irrelevant to me as I do everything myself apart from MOTs and fitting tyres.

the rt125 lamp was on the shelf and it fit what i was doing

vetter fairings from the 80's had a nice shell that works nice in some applications

but replacement head lamps are hard to find

years ago 1 or 2 styles fit everything now there are thousands of different ones
except the one you need

a lot of moto guzzi stuff fits other bikes

but where i live its a 220 mile round trip to the guzzi dealer
bmw is 80 ktm is 36 and 80 HD is 30
and the bike breakers have almost all shut down

Not really. I replaced the Tour headlight and ring with one from a Buell. Sorry, don't remember which one off hand. I think I gave around a hundred bux new off Ebay.
