Skorpion Sport clutch pedal

Postby rd400racer » Mon Sep 16, 2019 6:19 am

I've got a race in 2 weeks and it appears that the existing pedal was bent at some time and is at quite an awkward angle. It will do, but I'd sure like one that is normal. I'm afraid if I try to bend it back it will break and then I'm really screwed. Thanks

Foot gear shift? That's steel and can be bent back into shape, maybe with a little heat.

Yep, foot gear shift. Man, it sure looks like aluminum to me.

the stock one is steel. Pull off the little rubber cover on the end of the shifter and scratch a bit off and check.

MY 97 Traveller is ALLOY just tested with a magnet
its the lever you work with your foot

other bikes have levers that will fit at transmission shaft
but i think that makes the shift pattern backwards
some like that for racing

Right, it's a rear-set gear shift lever.

But also an alu alloy you can bend. Heat it while testing how stiff it still is, if you're warm enough you feel it gives with just a little pressure.

Or just rig something from a bar & a bolt going sideways.

PS: yes, I believe common racing currently is 1 up, 2, 3, 4, .. down. Exactly the same as my '76 Jawa, actually.
And some rear sets have the shift lever directly on the engine's gear shaft, but with the lever pointing backwards, automatically giving that shift pattern. But the pics I looked at suggest the Scorpion Sport uses a push-pull bar, as seen in other road going sports bikes, thus maintaining the common 1-down shift pattern.
