Fleet adjustment

Postby tigcraft » Sat Nov 23, 2019 5:01 pm

Well, after many years of my Skorpion ownership I’ve finally sold it and it goes Tuesday with all the spares and everything I’ve collected over the years. I’m having a down size of fleet as I’ve too many bikes and this is one I don’t use that much these days. I thought I’d never sell it but the day came and it’s left me a little sad after nearly ten years of owning it but.......
There is a plus side, I now can restore some of my traditional two stroke MZs which I’ve never got round to doing and really exited about so I’ve not really jumped ship but hopped sideways!! Eric

you sound like me too many roller skates and not enough feet to wear them all

get an rt125 4 stroke after adjusting to how small it is it will be a lot of fun

I like that expression of roller skates!! As for the tiddler section of the MZs Dave, I’m really looking forward to some purple smoke!!

my 1950's and 60" experience with the 2 smokers changed in 1970 when i went to bmw

and the lawn boy 2 smoker to mow the hill in the back yard did me in

i still mow the hill with a 2 cycle or electric mower its tooo steep for a riding mower

You have to love the smell of purple haze in the morning!

And if you don't, use modern low smoke oil & don't mix too rich. And make sure you ride in front.

To me, every bike has its own character & appeal, and there are so many bikes which I now regret having sold in the past. I have a big garage.

I used to follow someone on some sort of a big boring jap cruiser with a little Castrol R chucked in for fun. It was tasty!! Shame his exhaust wasn’t routed forward as it was only people behind him enjoying it

had a fellow in a riding group with a Kawasaki bike they made him ride in the back of the pack
he used an oil type that was good for killing everything behind him
went for a ride one day about 40 miles out i made him run his bare hands across my faring
then gave him a bottle of water and some tide soap to wash his hands
then he understood why we were all complaining
it was killing the last 2 or 3 riders :smt022

So he followed the 2nd strategy - make sure you lead. Not necessarily democratic.

David, if liquid oil came out something was wrong.

it came out the exhaust pipe
because it was wrong oil and
i think it was an auto lube system
that was cranked till you could see the smoke

it was nasty to ride behind

Glad I wasn’t following in a car as I’d hate to think what the windscreen would be like!!

Hi Guys,
Havn't been very active lately, but seeing the bit that Puffs wrote about bikes he should have kept, well, it just started the old grey matter going a bit, so, when I was about 25 or 27yrs I had a dayly journey to work from Graves End to the city of London about 40 miles, and in the winter that was quite a trip each day so when it got near winter I part Exed my Douglas Dragonfly 350cc for a Vincent Black Shaddow watsonian chair outfit. My wife in the chair and my nexdoor neighbour up behind, in front of me was my friend Ted on his Ariel Huntmaster 750cc with his wife in the chair. He always rode ahead of me because the Vinny was faster than the Ariel. There was usually a gap of 2 yds between my front and his back wheel. We used to go round St Pauls on the granite cobbles both doing a 3 wheel slide. Now I must tell you that's BIKING. As you said Puffs, that's one I should have never sold. Hay Ho, any way Guys, Wish you all the Best Of Christmases
and safe riding in the new year.
Take care Alan.
