Hello gentlefolk!
I've just taken delivery of a 1984 MZ TS125 and it's a bit of a restoration 'challenge'.
Wish me luck.
(I'll be asking enough questions to become a pest no doubt... :-) )

Gee, this has taken me awhile to get back in here! Sorry. Long story.
I'm in a wee village near Dunfermline. Lived all my life in Edinburgh until recently (fed up with it) but now settled on the sunny side of the Forth.
I've lost quite a bit of garage space with the move so I'm thinking of selling the MZ, which is a bit sad.

Nah... Don't do that... Sell that car, takes up much more space.

My wife's right, I've become a bit of a hoarder. I rebuild things then keep them and go looking for another project - I get attached to the bloody things.
One of my old cars, a Triumph Spitfire, needed a lot of work - I ended up jacking up the radiator cap and fitting a new car! It's too good to use too much without spoiling it hence it's now just a waste of space. If I keep the MZ I'll do the same and I'll then have 5 old bikes and two old cars that go nowhere.
I probably need therapy...
It has to go.

Hi Norrie,
Welcome, and as the guys know I have 5 bikes at the moment, 3 Z's a Honda and a Sinnis. Looking back on life there are three particular things amongst many others that i should not have sold and that was my Vincent Black Shadow my Ariel Square 4 and my Ford Capri which was owned by Henry FORD's son
and a one off automatic. There is way over £100,000 in those three, sold for peanuts, so guys be ever so careful what you sell.
Stay safe All Alan.

Hi,
Yep one should not look back, that Vinny was originally built by George Brown of world 3 wheeler fame for his brother so now it's got to be 60/70/80K I don't know, the Ariel just a square 4, but the Capri was a 2.9L auto and the only one built by Fords for young Mr Ford to drive on holiday in Scotland, I could not put a price on that one. If only. Nah, ring dinging is much more fun.
Stay safe All Alan.

It's all painfully true.
Honda 90s were disposable in the day and 10 or 15 years ago I fished one out of a canal and another from a skip. (Needless to say I'm hoarding them still...) VW Beetles were the same and them and the 90s are all worth much more money these days - and rising.
Wonder what's next to become rare, collectable and valuable...Vauxhall Nova, Nissan Sunny, Kia Picanto...? The world's gone nuts.
A mate of mine has some really old cars and bikes from the 1920s and 30s and reckons their values are dropping because most of the people who remember them or owned them have dropped off the spar.

Morning All,
Thinking about what things are now worth or rather what you would have to pay for them, I have had my TS 250/1 for over 30 yrs and I bought it from a guy in Dagenham (Ford worker) for £65 and now you would have to fork out about £1500 for a supa 5 in this cond, Trouble is,when you get to my age it's getting
increasingly difficult to get me leg over the buggers, once i'm on it's ok, I bought the the Sinnis Hoodlum because it is pritty low and I thought being a bit of a
Hoodlum myself, it seemed about right, but to be honest it's nowhere as good as the Z's, it's a bit bouncy and a bit hard, anyway enough of me. Wish you well.
Alan.
