Mz ETZ 250 Road Test

Postby nice2day » Wed Aug 26, 2020 7:17 am

I was wondering and hoping someone will be able to direct me to a Road test for the ETZ 250. I've searched the web long and hard but no joy. I would imagine it was tested by several magazines at the time. Perhaps someone here has one and could scan it for us all?. Very much obliged in advance if something was to turn up. :|

Oh Well done...Many thanks Dave for taking the trouble to scan and get this road test on the forum. It's nice and clear and reads easily. I enjoyed reading it and agree with the tester that the front brake is definitely a touch too powerful which left me with a severely damaged anterior cruciate ligament in my right knee. Hopefully other readers will also enjoy reading this Dave so thanks again, I am much obliged. :)

Yes thank you for these scans. Will read them myself too!

As for front brake: yes it is very powerful, answer might be to use cheap pads. My 251 is a lot more usable with the cheap pads, except wet weather can be poor. Advise to keep this in mind if one goes down this route.

Hi Puffs...That is good advice for normal riding. I guess the problem arises when you change machines over short periods, as the Ariel ideally needs 2 HANDS crushing the lever to stop it rather than one light finger pressure... It's the automatic, emergency reaction stops that can catch you out. Ouch!

PS: As Blurredman suggests, cheapo pads or any with less grip would be a good idea. It might be nice to hear from owners who have fitted less grippy pads and know the make of them. Would cutting radial slots in the friction material help I wonder by reducing the contact patch with the disc? They would obviously wear faster though.
