Rough ts 150

Postby JawasandMZs » Mon Mar 15, 2021 4:28 pm

My mz ts 150 seems rough and noisy compared to my ETZ250. I know it's 100% ok as it's been dismantled and had all the friction surfaces checked and the crank replaced with new seal and bearings.
Still it's noisy, especially on the left side like the primary chain is slapping around.
Is this only to be expected from such an old, primitive bike?
Anyone know?

All my Ts125/150 powered Mz's all used (one still does) sound like a couple of bolts are loose inside the clutch side. As far as I know, there is no adjustment of the transfer chain. So they all rattle like crap. If you fill the gearbox with any oil other than Hypoid Sae90, it gets worse. I. E. like there is no oil in the gearbox at all. If your clutch has become very sloppy, the chain may be worth changing. Or the bearings, if you decide to investigate further. Have not driven my Ts125 on the road since 1990, but in my trips around my lockup, you cannot differentiate any sound over another one (unless it is sitting still ticking over).
As it is very archaic. It was never the smoothest of gearboxes, although when new and unhindered, it sounded much, much, much quieter than today. As it sounds like a tractor :-D

Thanks Gerry. I was in fact thinking that the time-honoured habit of using regular engine oil as g/box shouldn't apply to MZs. The minimal extra drag .. who cares?
Having no guides/tensioners on the ts, well that's just cheap old motors.
Gonna change to heavy oil and enjoy antagonising the neighbours with the noize.

Following a biased and flawed moderator choice (someone posting aggressive personal attacks is rewarded, while my technical posts are removed - behind my back & without any justification!), I have withdrawn from this forum.

Were you able to resolve the issues of your TS 150 ?

Even using MA engine oil has caused both my etz's plates to slip.
