Rowracin 24th April - Foxholes again

Postby oldboyonrgv » Mon Apr 25, 2005 7:00 am

Well it was back to Foxholes for another bash with the Portsmouth club last Sunday (24th April)

During the week I had replaced a leaking waterpump seal and replaced the hydraulic clutch fluid with some lighter stuff to try to lighten the lever action and make it more positive.

We decided to go over on Sat evening to save have to get up at stupid 0clock Sunday morning, it also gives Row more chance to walk the track and have a good play Saturday night whilst Dad enjoys a few beers and shoots the breeze with the other parents, Amanda couldn’t make this one due to a Saturday night commitment (out on the raz!).

We surfaced at 07:30 Sunday morning to a clear sky although chilly, Row had his usual two bowls of Cornfalkes and ½ pint of orange juice and pronounced himself ready to do battle !, Rows cousin Sam arrived at 08:00 (with Mum and Dad, Vicky and John) in tow, this was to be Sam’s 1st race meeting so the family were quite nervous (Sam has to race in the 85 group as he is 12 yrs old)

Practice went off with no problems and Row pronounced the clutch action a lot better, allowing him to hang onto the clutch more rather than the return pressure pulling it out of his little fingers.

The meeting went pretty much as I has expected with Row returning results of 21st 23rd and 24th places, not really that much to report as his riding is continuing to improve although in the last race he managed to leave the course completely on a very fast uphill right hander when the bike climbed over a berm ! (he said that he was going up there faster then ever) he ended up caught up in marker tape and when he tried to re-join the track the tape dragged him off of the bike , his lap times are still coming down and the gap to the next group of riders is reducing. It’s really now all about Row building his confidence in tackling some of the more technical jumps which he is currently nervous of .

We will be back at this track next Sunday with the Meon Valley club (Rows first outing with them) making it three in a row at Foxholes so Row should have the track pretty much sorted, this was part of my master plan because Foxholes is probably the most technical track we use, if he can crack this track then the others should seen easy ?!
