Just sayin hello

Postby Malj » Mon Jun 23, 2014 5:32 pm

Just a line to say hello, living in the uk up in Northumberland and like a lot of the members I have been riding and working on bikes for some time getting on to 40 years passed my test at 16 on a puch moped in 1973. Currently have 3 running bikes and a shed full of bits,( a gentleman can never have too many bikes) the bikes are a 1953 bantam, a 1972 Honda tl125 and a 98 Vfr800f all in pretty good nick and used quite often with the Vfr being my commuter and summer tourer. Anyway I am thinking of downsizing the Vfr and looking at Mz scorpions, like the narrow profile and ease of working on singles, but like to do a bit of homework before I buy, so I will be rooting round the forum for info and possible classifieds

Cheers
Malj

Welcome! I've recently picked up a pristine 1995 Skorpion Sport, after previously owned a n almost identical Sport back in 2001 in full race trim (non-road-legal) and a 2002 Skorpion Tour that I bought as a left-over new bike and only kept for a couple of years. They are wonderful, fun bikes. Hope you are able to find one that meets your needs - I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

look at the saxon tour or other rotax powered models 500cc

i have a traveller but like the saxon tour better

dave

the saxon tour is rare but nice just make sure you get one the electric start works on
as the kicker is a useless extra you will kill your self trying to kick start it
mine has a bing cv carb which i think may be the reason mine is a hard starter

have a friend with a harris matchless he always bump starts his off a local hill in the morning
after it warms up he can then start it easier most of the day

Hi Malj
I have a 660 Baghira which shares the same engine, i love mine, compared to a four or V four it is a total culture shock going from 100+ bhp to 45 ish but a huge amount of fun to ride. I would get as long a ride on one as you can to fully appreciate its charms, a short run just wont sell the bikes handling etc. i have been through many bikes over the years and for a blast it really is one of the most fun - my last 'big' bike was a ZRX 1200 which was quick but such a lard arse in comparison.
