FOOD CAMP COOKING

Postby DAVID THOMPSON » Sat Jun 11, 2005 11:33 am

TAKE AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE
I WILL SEND YOU A EMAIL WITH MY PACKING LIST ASAP
I AM GOING TO 3 RALLYS THIS JULY AND AUGUST
:-D

I DO RECOMEND THE ESBIT STOVE IT DOES SOUPS
COFFEE AND RICE A RONI REAL WELL BUT HAMBURGS AND HOT DOGS
NOT TO GOOD
BEST FOOD TO USE REQUIRES NO ICE

SOME OF THE STUFF THESE GUY'S USE IS VERY HIGH PRICE
BUT WE CAN STAND A BIT MORE WEIGHT SO THINGS FROM
WAL FART MAY ADD SOME EXTRA WEIGHT BUT CUT THE HIGH COST
I WAS LOADED AT 94 LB LAST YEAR (2004) AND LOOKING TO CUT THAT IN HALF THIS YEAR THAT WAS EVERY THING CAMPGEAR FOOD AND TOOLS AND THREE CHANGES OF CLOTHES
I AM GOING TO GET RID OF A BUNCH OF STUFF THIS YEAR

I was going to try to eat at resturaunts as much as possible, so I don't have to carry too much. I can carry quite a bit on the dream, I have saddle bags and a rear "trunk" ( a 60's era metal cooler mounted to my rear rack), but the bike is only 22hp on a good day, and weighs 360lbs empty. goes reall good on the flats, 60 is very comfy in top gear (4th), but it does'nt do real well on hills. anything more than 4% grade, and 50 in 3rd is a stretch. I am going all back roads from seattle to southern oregon and back, and wan't to shoot for 250 miles a day. been looking forward to this for a year or so. never done an overnight road trip on MC before, only in the dirt....

I would apreciate all the help you can offer, because I am sure your advice will only make my trip more enjoyable!! :D
