Morning All from Wales

Postby milly » Thu Feb 18, 2016 10:32 pm

A quick hi from myself,
I have a 1991 Mz etz 250 or 300 not sure which I just got from a friend and he got my 125etz for his son. I am not that familiar with these bikes but will be looking my way around it soon. Need to find carb before I do anything other than picking up battery in the morning. Its been off the road for about 5 years so will see what needs doing in the course of the next few weeks.
Couple of things I not sure of as what oil to put in gearbox as manual says ep80 and other people have said other types, what the general thoughts out there.
Fish heads, eat them up yum!

Hi there!!!

Where about's in Wales are you!? If you're close we could meet up and I can tell you aaaaaall about MZ's lol. Won't bore you, I promise! Ride outs are optional.

As far as engine oil goes, EP80 (or HP80/90 will do too), I must stress, make sure the EP80 is GL3 or GL4 ONLY!! Do not use GL5 oil. That was a mistake I have made in the past when I first ventured with my ETZ250 and it's something I am surprised isn't mentioned more often. Personally, because my ETZ250 leaks the whole gearbox in about 6 weeks, I just chuck in really cheap 20w50. When the clutch slips, I top it up basically
1973 MZ ES250/2 - 17,000 miles - The project! :)
1979 Suzuki TS185ER - 9,000 miles - Mud :)
1981 Honda CX500B - 91,000 miles - Long Distance :)
1987 MZ ETZ300 - 38,000 miles - Sun :)
1989 MZ ETZ251 - 49,000 miles - Commute :)
