The two piece rims are a unique feature of the MZ. I decided to take some picture of it's construction during my tire change yesterday. It takes more effort to get the tire onto the wheel & maybe a bit more PSI to seat the bead. Michelin Pilot Road 4 now resides on the back. I inherited it from a Ducati friend who bought it in a pinch, but replaced it as soon as he got back from his trip with a matched set. Maybe 500 miles on it. My previous tire still had some life in it, but not enough for the inspector. (Although it wasn't at the wear bar yet.)

in my past i have found that a tire that is hard to get on and off the rim.
will almost always come off the rim at speed and scare the crap out of you
