I have my 1000st insured with motorcycle direct and even they did not have the machine listed. If you tell them that it is in the same insurance group as a ducati st 2/3/4 they seem happy to proceed. My premium is just unfer £200 fully comp.

Hi TomTom,

I've got mine insured with Carole Nash. It took a while to get them to understand what it was, and eventually they put it in the same class at the Aprilia RSV1000. Also, some insurers list it under MZ, others under MuZ, so it's worth trying both variations.
I'm told Footman James also recognise and insure the bike. Hope this helps,

Ride Safe.

I've insured my 1000S with Footman James in Cradley Heath. I have a rider policy with them which covers my ETZ250, Skorpion Sport, 1000S and (sorry) Suzuki GSXR1100 which came to about £250, I think. PLUS!!!!!! They give a 10% discount if you're a member of the MZ Riders Club, so the £13 membership pretty much pays for itself when you get the discount.

Where abouts are you? It would be nice to see another 1000S now and again......mine's in North Birmingham/South Staffs.

All the best

Thanks for the replies as i seemed to be getting nowhere trying to insure the bike. I'll try some of your suggestions.

I live in London. My 1000S is currently being repaired after a slide suffered during a track day at Rockingham.

Finally got insurance. What a load of crap on the insurers' sites. . Some of the smaller named insurers just pester the life out of you by offering up to 30% off if you telephone them after an online quote, trouble is they are rip off prices to begin with. Why would i want to insure my bike and pay for the privilige and then pay the insurer £600 compulsory excess over and above the voluntary excess.
Any way enough of the crap I'm looking forward to seeing what the bike can do .
