using parking lights as running lights 1000sf

Postby tomtom » Thu Mar 06, 2008 5:28 pm

Any ideas on how to make the two parking lights come on as "running" lights when driving instead of the one dipped beam which is standard in the uk. I find the bike bumping over potholes makes the dip beam appear as if you are flashing drivers at junctions to pull out in front of you.
The parking lights come on as both left and right and are a lot more subtle if they could be used when driving in daylight if required.

Pull the seat, remove the relay cover, and pull the Daylight relay. It is in a row by itself, the other row has three relays. Your engine light will come on and stay on for a few hours of riding, eventually the computer will override the fault and the light will go out. I yanked mine........ahem.....right after I got my bike. No adverse side effects. A simple fix. You regain full use of the light switch, the way it was designed to be used, which is what your looking for. :-D

I've posted previously on this subject, but if you pull relay 1, you do regain control of the lights but main beam flash doesn't work......at least on my bike. Is that the case with others?

All the best

:D Thanks Zedhead,
I've tried the fix that you suggested by removing number 1 relay. It does the job, I now have full use of the switchgear. I can switch all my lights off if i want when riding or i can use both parking lights as "running" lights.
The only problem with this fix , as you have said, is that now there is no headlamp flasher on the left hand switchgear.

Now the parking lights are both on is it feasible to up the wattage of the parking bulbs to give a brighter light without causing any damage to the wiring loom . Will any fuses need to be upgraded :?:
