cold starting

Never seem to get the bike to quite catch first time. Do they prefer no throttle from cold?

I've only had mine a few days but was told no throttle. It seems to fire first time every time using that method hot or cold. There always seems to be a very slight delay between pressing the starter button and the motor turning over but it always starts, reminds me of my RSV.

absolutely no throttle for the 1000S. Just pull out the clutch to decouple the gears and make the starter engine work a bit easier, push the button and let it sort it out.
I must admit at times it really sounds like it's struggling to turn those pistons, but in the end it does fire up first time.
For the best results you need to keep your battery fit, either throught frequent use ( not much effort then) or by hooking it up to a charger.
