WELL IVE JUST RECIEVED A NEW COIL FROM GRAHAMS £106,THE ORIGINAL FAILING AFTER 3100 MILES ,I THINK THE ONLY SOLUTION WOULD BE TO BUY THE UPRATED VALEO USED ON RENAULT PEUGEOT AND MODIFY IT TO FIT,DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THE PLUGG/CONNECTOR IS THE SAME AS THE MZ OR WILL THAT HAVE TO CHANGE ASWELL,OTHER THAN THAT WE NEED A ELECTRICAL GOD TO SHOW US HOW TO CONVERT TO COIL AND HT CAP

Are you jinxed, not much luck with your bike.

just one of those things i suppose ,could look at it another way the coil lasted nearley five years :D other than the self inflicted hiccup [loose wire at front sprocket]the bike performs superb, just got back from a rally and off to the bmf peterborough tail end rally in sept ,and i have every faith in the mz getting me there with all me luggage in fast comfort

Looking at your mileage would lead me to conclude that this coil fault seems to be a function of age rather than use.

my thoughts exactly, really happy with it ,and when i questioned the need for such technology as obd2 diagnostics /fault diagnosis ,im coming around to the idea ,ie bike running rough on the way home from work ,then bike not firing on no 1 pot ,rather than start tracing wires simply plug in the laptop and it diagnosed the fault straight away :D

although i wont go asfar as to say i like pencil coils :(

I thought there had to be a 0 missing, which would make it 31,000 miles,I did 2,500 just to pick up my bike...in a week :D

Don't be boastful, and remember we live on a small island! Although I know that there is a 1000st on Orkney and that really is a small island. My own fault code reader has also proved invaluble. :D

THE OBD2 INTERFACE and the program i use has proved invaluble ,more so for the car [volvo] which seems to have a sensor for everything,as for racking up the miles ,difficult ,i have custody of my 9yr old son at weekends so jumping on the bike and dissapearing over yonder is not all that easy ,

I have a Futura and on the Aprilia Forum I read this thread that said "The Renault Clio v6 in the UK had exactly the same coil " as the Futura

I was surprised it didn't go to a states buyer as it was listed for a good while.

That was on there since I got my bike back in June for $98.00

I sent him a message asking him if he would sell it for less but he would not so I passed on it.I have faith :D
