Fuel consumption figures - 1000

Postby johnny2tents » Mon Sep 14, 2009 7:20 am

Hi Folks,
At the first N/West branch meet at Horwich, Bolton, Ged arranged the weather as promised!!! Brilliant sunshine.
2 bikes........ Black SF (super exhaust!) and Blue ST in attendance at Rivington Barn Sunday bike meet.
At one point conversation turned to the subject of fuel consumption, and as I have just done the overnight run from Cheshire to Galway will quote the following stats. All on ST with 17/45 sprocket set up. Bike mileage 12000.
1. Steady indicated 80mph and 4600rpm panniers loaded. Fuel light on at 137 miles immediate stop and refill takes 15.1 litres 40 - 41 mpg
2. Best ever slow A road riding was 172 miles to Fuel light and a range of 208 miles (still didn't run out) which worked out at 54 mpg.
3. Worst ever Fuel light on at 124 miles, no other details. approx 37 mpg
4. Max refill so far from memory (without running out) 20.5 litres.
Anyway, my experience for what it is worth! Cheers J2T

John
I reckon that you are right on the mark with your results there. It has just occured to me that when talking of MPG figures, for the benefit of US readers the UK gallon is a different measure to the US one. (they probably know that anyway).

right mpg figures are as follows did 350 miles ,
50 miles of motorway 80-90mph
80 miles of the a1 90mph
220 miles of A and B roads 50-60mph [includes getting stuck in traffic at chesterfield and mansfield]

made 3 fuel stops and put in a total of 7.91 gallons works out at 44.24 miles per gallon , :-D really chuffed as im about 18 stone :( and loaded up with gear , also left my mates [12 stone] buell firebolt for dead round the cat n fiddle
