How about an interchange thread?

Postby Mach IV » Mon Oct 03, 2011 2:34 pm

Yanno, parts other than factory stuff, like keys, filters and the like.
I'd like to know the K&N part number for their air/oil filter, chain and sprockets would be another good one.
More options the better.
Which other bikes use the same.
The Japanese stick coil interchange,etc.

Just changed the plugs, what a diffence.
NGK-BKR7ES-11

Also topped it off with non-ethynol fuel to avoid distorting the tank any more.

Mach
There is very little on the 1000 series that is specifically MZ. The brakes etc are standard jap items as fitted to a number of jap bikes. The forks are the same Marazocchis as fitted to my wifes Ducati and the Sachs rear suspension is as fitted to some Aprilias. The Sagem/JC engine management system is as used on at least five other makes of machine. The oil filter is a K & N HP 1002 Brake pads (front) Ferodo FDB557 (rear) Ferodo FDB 2111 The plug coils are as fitted to most of the Citroen/Renault/Fiat/Peugot V6 engines and some of the Triumph triples. The air filter is the only item that I have not found an alternative for. There are too many items to list here and If you would care to join the Yahoo autos group then you will find a complete database under MZ 1000.

:-D

Thx man,I'd prefer the info here on an actual MZ site rather than a car site.
Does kinda make sense.
I did pull that info(levers) after looking up Nissin info on my own.

When are you going to post a picture ? I remember you were thinking of making it into a fighter because it needed a side panel.Do you/Have you ridden this bike ? What did you do with the exhaust pipes ?

Wasn't the spring in the trans it was that tab,had it welded and it shifts fine.
I made an upper out of two broken ones, one from a member here along with the left mid that was missing when I bought the bike.
Rode it a couple weeks ago,I think I'll keep it.
Going to drill new holes for the tank further back so I can get it to clear the frame in the front.
Pipes are still stock,I have a couple of Leo Vince universal muffs that will probably go on it.

I believe the tank pivots from the rear with a long rod through it so it might be a little difficult to move back.

Your the first one I've heard of with an MZ to speak of tank problems with bulging from the gas.

Other brands like Aprilia and Ducati are having a lot of problems. They are replacing them under warranty but still no fix.

Lets see a picture..... :-D

It's on the lift with most of the bodywork off right now.
I'm going to file the rear tank mount holes into a slot so it will slide back.
