ETZ251 Side Stand

Postby Uncle Nick » Thu Mar 26, 2020 3:31 pm

Hi all, the last time I used the bike it seemed to be leaning over a little more than usual. When I checked the side stand I’ve found one side is cracked, allowing it to bend easily.

It’s steel so can be welded easily but my question is, should it be straight or is there meant to be a bend in it. Hopefully the photo's will explain in better.

Has anyone else had the issue and successfully repaired it? Any hints or tips appreciated.

Thanks.

That looks like a sidestand for a bicycle Dave...

Uncle Nick, no experience w/ sidestands on the MZ, but I'd just bend it so that the bike stands at the angle you like, and then take it off & weld it like that.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Think I'll go with the standard 'bash it straight with a big hammer, then weld it up' approach. If the bike's at a daft angle I'll bend the stand (again) until it isn't. :D
