1974 TS250 clutch plate question

Postby TheBatteringHam » Fri Jun 05, 2020 8:56 pm

I've recently obtained my first MZ, a 1974 TS250, and its in need of some new clutch plates but I'm having trouble figuring out if there is a difference in the plates for a 5 speed bike vs a 4 speed bike or for the TS vs all the other models. it seems like most the kits out there are 5 plates and seem to fit everything but some specify they're for 5 speed bikes so I figured I should check here and see what the deal is.

thanks in advance for any help.

The friction plates for 4 gear and 5 gear TS and ETZ are the same.

But some of the reproductions are to thick compared to the opriginals.
So you you will have problems to get them all into the clutch body.
They should be around 3,00 mm. Some of the reproductions have up to 3,3 mm. So 0,3 mm x 5 = 1,5 mm more...

So take care that you get the right ones...
