Is it just me?

Postby JawasandMZs » Mon Dec 14, 2020 11:45 am

Does this happen to anyone else? I bought rear shocks for my etz which are too long and now both wheels stay on the ground when you park up. Now I've just bought a side stand which is designe to fit in the gap normally occupied by the l/h/s rear wheel spacer and it's a way, WAY too thick. Totally useless. See photo. The rear wheel spacer and body of side stand should be the same width. I asked the seller for a refund and he said first he wants the item back. What for? To sell to someone else? Then he's just back to square 1 with another ***** off, angry negative fb.

The seller on eBay of both these things claims to have sent out loads of both items without any problems. Duh. Anyone else had problems with rubbish spares?

I can't understand that. Surely they can come from the same cast? This item is a good quarter inch too big. If it were too small I could at least fit in some spacers.

Hi,
I have bought 3 of these without any problems, may I ask where did you buy it from? because interestingly I have bought various items on eBay that have
had a size problem, all from the same supplier, and I wondered if it could be the same.
Stay safe Alan.

The etz250 has a smaller spacer than most other mzs, as well as a bigger wheel. Most dealers either don't know this or don't care, and will often advertise their spacers and sidestands as fitting any mz. Youve probably got one for a 251.

I have two original ones. One was pre-cut to fit an etz.

The other I bought whilst in hungary also unaware of this issue. I later filed/sanded it down myself.

I did not give the length of shocks, I did give the length of the distance piece that was asked for....

A shock absorber with 34 mm would be quite short :-)

Thanks for all your comments. The wheels staying grounded whilst on the stand isn't too much of a biggie It's extremely easy to roll the bike on and off the stand. I just put a length of plank under the bike for maintenance. The seller is quite willing to refund me for the sidestand EU or not. I'm just annoyed that that's TWO bum purchases thanks the seller not knowing his own product.

Just to update everybody on fitting a 17t front sprocket instead of 19t.

..... OMG, the bike is transformed. It'll fly along at 65mph/5,000rpm with power to spare. It's on par with the Jawa though I suspect the fuel economy is going to be worse.

I always get pretty good MPG on both my 250cc MZs...

I average 60mpg.

Though on the motorway at a sustained 55/60 mph, I have got 80mpg. No lie.

My Jawa does crazy mpg too if you go slow but then again it will happily pull from nowhere in top. Past 4500rpm the power drops off and you just get noise, like on the old diesel taxis before turbo-charging became de rigeur.
