The mystery of the Ost2rad TS250 downpipe/exhaust header

Postby R1100purist » Sun Apr 18, 2021 8:03 am

Hi all,
So my original down pile/exhaust header was looking a little dowdy so I ordered a new one from Ost2rad and after 2 fruitless nights trying to get it to fit I found it was fairly different in profile and would not work. The questions are. A has anyone else experienced this? B. Are their other retailers who have a part that will fit! Thanks, Owen

You’re right Guesi! I should have bought from you. I learned my lesson.

Best,

Following a biased and flawed moderator choice (someone posting aggressive personal attacks is rewarded, while my technical posts are removed - behind my back & without any justification!), I have withdrawn from this forum.

I suspect that the Ost2 downpipe is shaped that way to fit their silencer which is straight. The original silencer forward section is angled inwards towards the engine. That’s probably why they sell the silencer with a new downpipe.

Hmm that could be! However, I ordered their new muffler too so you think they would be compatible with each other?

Ahh..! Is the new silencer ‘straight’?
My experience with Ost2 hasn’t been great so far

All TS 250 have the same shape.
No differences.

Sorry to hijack the thread a little, but is a ‘straight’ silencer acceptable on my 1979 TS250-1 ? I’m new to MZ’s and would value your opinions. Thanks

In fairness, Ost2rad seem to be quite good at dealing with problems. If you email them with the picture of the two downpipes, they will probably send you the correct part asap. You might not even need to send the old one back.

Any silencer is acceptable to me, but the original TS250/1 silencer was "straight", ie not upswept like the ETZ ones
