Round master cylinder

Postby andy1141 » Sat Jun 19, 2021 8:13 am

Hello I haven't been on the site for a while
Anybody had a slight weep from underneath cap on master cylinder
I've replaced diaphragm with a new one but still a little weep under cap and works its way down thread.
I'm sure if it's completely bedded in when Put diaphragm then white cover then cap on
The brake its self is nice plenty of play but doesn't go rock solid like my etz one
I can't see any other leaks anywhere else pipe or calliper.
This is on 500r
Cheers Andy

soft lever try pumping fluid up from bottom the air bubbles do not seem to do a car style pump and bleed

my Saxon Tour only bleeds proper if i pump fluid up from bottom with a mity vac pump

Mine weeped a bit, but tightening the cap fixed that.

Do you also have the white circular plastic that goes between cap and the diaphragm?

Initially I thought I had the plastic cap on nice and hard too- infact I make sure it isn't loose. Don't want that thing to come flying off and spray the bike tank all over with brake fluid... But it was leaking a tad.. so I just did it up a little bit more. Been fine since, for me..

Cheers for help
I tightened up cap and still little weep and when tried to take the cap off it started to unscrew clear body.
I had a spare clear body so thought I would give it a go .
I used a spare cap to remove clear reservoir and install replacement.
There is a O ring and it may have had lock tight (or it may have been Aluminium oxide) on plastic thread.
Took for MOT and fingers crossed seems ok at moment.
I think it may have been clear plastic reservoir not sitting flush with diaphragm and white plastic thing.
Hopefully it will be ok

I understand.

Though I am surprised the white (well mine is yellow) but they are supposed to be clear   came off- after 30ish years, normally they are impossible to get off!

To be fair the first half of turn was ok it was the rest which was very stiff and I was worried I might brake it .
Putting the replacement in was just as bad .
The one I took out was yellowish and manky .
