Tezet wiring diagram for a 1971 ES150

Postby Rewind » Fri Mar 04, 2022 8:49 am

Hi all, I recently bought a 1971 ES150 which has been fitted with a Tezet Electronic Ignition System. I am about to start rewiring the bike as the loom has been damaged at some point. The bike has also been converted to 12 volt electrics. Does anyone have a wiring diagram and/or instructions for the Tezet system that they could share with me, scanned copies would be fine. I am a newcomer to MZ bikes although I have rebuilt BSAs, Triumphs, Ducati 900SS among other machines. Also what modifications (apart from the obvious of fitting a 12V battery and changing all the lamps) would have been necessary to achieve the changeover from 6V to 12V? I'm thinking particularly of the charging system.
Thanks in advance, Les

I have much heard of the Tezet ignition system from members of the club, and how at the moment it is very much in vogue owing to the relatively affordability as opposed to VAPE. But i've not seen one, is it simply a contactless ignition, or is it the whole thing- stator/rotor/ignition/coil/cdi? ????

If it's just an electronic ignition, then the only viable way to get 12v is to use a different system, or somehow adapt the 12v etz generator onto the es crankcase, but that would not be possible I think, it's just far too big to fit on the 125/150 engine.

I don't honestly think there is a problem with 6v per se. I do think there is a mis-understanding or false assumption that 12v is 'better'. Sure, 12v is more forgiving indeed, but, alas the same problems occure I would say but with relatively different habbit of annoyance.

Anyway, let's see a picture of your ignition! :-D :-D :-D

You can read details about the ignition here:

But you are right - 6V or 12V ... what are the pros and cons? Everyone has to decide for themselves...

Following a biased and flawed moderator choice (someone posting aggressive personal attacks is rewarded, while my technical posts are removed - behind my back & without any justification!), I have withdrawn from this forum.
