how to access Saxon Tour air filter -- help!

Postby LongRanger » Tue May 23, 2023 4:29 pm

I have a 1995 Saxon Tour and cannot for the life of me figure out how to access its air filter, covered by panel on left side of the bike which I can't see how to remove! It *appears* to have two flat-head screws at the bottom of this cover which screw in from the *back* (right side) and are virtually inaccessable, even with a right-angle ratcheting driver. Any tips or suggestions would be very, very appreciated; you can email me at <dcommprgr@gmail.com>. Many thanks in advance for any help!

Many thanks and a thousand karma points for your help, Dave. I had removed the battery and saw the one nut securing what I now know is the air filter access cover, but stubbornly persisted in my mistaken belief that access was from the left side. Once apart I was delighted to discover that the filter itself is actually in fine shape! Now pursuing another problem: the 15A fuse on the fuse block "blows" the instant the ignition switch is turned to "On". After a lot of checking with an ohmmeter found that disconnecting the 9-pin plug connecting the instrument panel (and nothing else) to the rest of the harness eliminates that behavior. Still trying to figure out where to go from here. Thanks again, and I hope you have a nice weekend. Cheers... /Steve
