Tank mounting bolts Skorp.

Postby FUTURE » Tue Jan 08, 2008 5:15 pm

I was warned this would happen. Last time I took the tank on my Traveller I made sure I did not tighten the tank mounting bolts too tight. If you do when you go to undo them again the nut in the tank will spin. WELL guess what? One of the nuts now spins. So to take the tank off I now have to undo the four bolts that hold the tank rear mounting bracket and remove the tank with that bracket still attached.

So how can I get the bolt out that the nut spins on? How can I stop the nut from spinning?

I just bought a Skorpion with the same problem. Did you come up with a solution? Or are you still removing the tank with the 4 bolts on the sub-frame? BAD DESIGN!

Still doing the subframe four bolts. Not that much of a hassle.

Take tank off and drill a 2.5mm hole down to and into the nut moulded in the tank.then screw in a small self tapping screw. This will stop the nut turning.
