starting

Postby martyn » Mon Jun 30, 2008 9:43 pm

I have a 2005 1000ST and starting has become a bit of a chore. when starting from cold it turns over very slowly and there is an occasional "clang" from inside the crank case, the battery is in excellant condition, fully charged and all cells bursting with life - according to the battery guy.
The bike has done 10,000km's.
has anyone taken off the crank case and can let me know what I'm in for, I removed the starter motor & that looked OK

have starter tested
also try a load test on the starter relay the contacts in it may be going bad and not passing enough current

my rt125 did that at about 1400 miles
