125 oil pressure

Postby bufallobiff » Mon Jul 14, 2008 9:47 pm

Just got an '01 w/ less than 2000 miles on it. The bike is in great shape outwardly and I have no reason to think that there is a major problem, however.... After cleaning it up and lubing the chain, I decided to set the idle to 1800 as it was at 3000.
I now find the oil light coming on and staying on below 3000. I would like to change oil and filter but I can't get a filter locally. I've read that the BMW 650 filter will work but my brother, who also owns an RT 125, says it doesn't fit. I've also read that there is a screen that needs tending to as well. I can't imagine that I don't have oil pressure as much as I've ridden the damn thing but I'm tempted to put a guage on it and see for sure. Where is that pesky sending unit and have you heard of problems with them? Any help would be appreciated.
