2003 125 SX CDi unit [UK]

Postby pyroforlife2 » Mon Dec 29, 2008 1:17 pm

Hi there, first post here, I've read through quite a bit of the forum it's good.

I just bought a non running 2003 125 sx model from a friend, for a very small sum. The problem being in that the cdi unit has fried itself, (I know it's the cdi, in that there was smoke coming from it at the time when it stopped running)

I was wondering if anyone knew if the CDI units were interchangeable from the 125 bikes, because I've been offered a unit from a 2002 125 rt model if this will fit?

If not, is there anyone on here who knows of anyone selling the right unit?

Thanks very much
Pyro

Hi Pyro,
If you look at the parts books on Grahams Motorcycles websitehttp://www.grahamsmotorcycles.com/grahams_motorcycles%20MZ%20Spares%20Menu.htm you'll see that the CDI boxes are the same for all 125 models.
All the best,
Norman

thats the first one anyone has said it smoked in the 6 and 1/2 years i have been riding my rt125
check to make sure the hall effect sensors wires are not shorted out
and do an inspection of the spark coil in fact have it tested at grahams
and also check the voltreg /rectifier
also water can get into the area where the hall/effect sensor is located
there is a small air hole in its cover
fording streams that come up past bottom of engine should not be done
this is again the first one i have heard of on the site that smoked
