Baghira brake disc/rotor bolts

Postby cat » Sun Feb 20, 2011 8:44 am

Has anyone ever found any replacement bolts for the Baghira brake discs?

I did get some of the right size from tastynutz but they aren't quite right.

had a problem the other week when changing wheels over to 18/21 with the rear disc bolts and the silly small allen key needed for them, replaced with some m6 bolts with a flange washer on them,(some old jap engine case bolts)had to pop them in my lathe first to shave the bolt head down to clear the caliper now i can use a 10mm socket, may change them to stainless for fitting the 17" wheels back on.
front bolts so far have not been a problem but may do the same to them as well, hope this helps

do be careful with the quality of the replacements bolts

and i always use a non hardening thread locker

i am getting forgetful in my old age and keep a log sheet
or journal of what i take off and when done work my way back through it in reverse
got in the habit of that working on big factory overhead cranes years ago
mistakes can be dangerous

Thanks.

Dave, yes, I don't want to use stainless and the Ti ones I got, the heads don't have as much surface area against the disc. (I could use washers, but... :// )

rodge70,... stainless tensile strength generally considered not enough for brake rotors. They probably be ok, but...I don't want to "learn the hard way."
Yes, button heads are inapproriate for anything except small brackets and body panels and so on, where low fastening torque is used...the "holes" for the Allen key are one size smaller than for the equivalent cap head screw. But I see you did find the gap is tight there, you had to reduce the hex head height. I guess that means that standard cap head Allens won't fit either.

correct on cap head screws, they would fit if machined down but you have the same problem but this time lack of depth for key instead, also the bolts i used had a flange equal to the width of original bolts.

I'm trying to find replacement rear disc bolts.

the Baghira I bought 2 years ago has some really sketchy replacement bolts on the rear. They looked ok, but no collar and I suspect they were fairing bolts...

I've tried R1 R6 bolts... but they're head too tall and the collar too wide....

The schema for the bike says M6x16
and the part number is 9014367000 SCREW M6x16
