Interchangeable parts - a list

Postby F0ul_Oli » Fri Mar 18, 2005 7:13 am

I was thinking how nice it would be to have a list of stuff, designed for other bikes, that fit the MZ range ( In interested in the Baghira, but lets make the list for everyone)

So far, I know the engine is a Yamaha 660cc and all the normal service parts fit.
The front disc is a Yamaha R1/6 model -99 - are the calipers also from this bike?
The front mudguard is a KTM model, but I don't know which bike!
The Rear brake Cylinder is also a KTM but which model?

What about the clocks? Did someone say they were from a Husky?

It seems to me the only bit which you can only get from MZ is the frame!

If we all put down our words of wisdom, we could edit the whole thread at the end and create a document for easy reading - what do you think?
I will only run out of ways of modify the Baggy when it weighs less that 100 kg and runs 100 bhp at the back wheel!!

The later style (not the square ones or the round ones) are the same as a Huskvarna (spelling not quite right but you get the meaning) SM and the husky tacho can be made to fit as well (electronic).
The front brake caliper is NOT the same as a Yamaha R6. The Yamaha unit is a four pot calpier, the MZ a 2 pot sliding caliper.
The KTM front mudgaurd like many others will fit (I have a Suzuki RM, UFO pattern one fitted to my Baghira)

Brilliant idea about this documant as well.

Just added some bits about the brake pads here.

Engine -

Service parts are the same as Yamaha XTZ 660
Oli Filter - Yamaha part # 4X7-13440-90

radiator guards for a KTM LC4 640 fit the Baghira perfectly

Electrics -

Tacho - The later style (not the square ones or the round ones) are the same as a Huskvarna SM and the husky tacho can be made to fit as well (electronic).

The CDI units from the following will fit.

Yamaha SZR660
Yamaha XTZ660
Any MZ 660
yamaha TDM 850 3VD item, not for the 4TX series. - The rev limiter is set at 8400rpm, ignition some degrees earlier (38° to 42°.

Battery off an XT600 will fit.

replace the original headlight bulb with a piaa super plasma bulb

Exhaust -

You can use a connector pipe from any 660 based bike, the back box needs to fit the end of this connector pipe ( my back box was once on a Fireblade! - this is because my connector pipe will accept any end can with a 50mm inlet - standard size for the Ducati 749 underseat pipes!

Brakes -

The front disc is a Yamaha R1/6 model -99 -
The Rear brake Cylinder

The Aprillia Pegasso uses the same FRONT pads as the Baghira and the same REAR pads as does the Yamaha TDR 125

Plastics -

The headlamp is a stock KTM fittment

The front mud guard is a pattern part, as is the rear number plate holder

Larger Fuel Tank -

None available but a KTM model can be modified, but the seat also needs replacing.

Wheels -

Rear Yamaha 41 tooth sprocket JTR857-41

The standard Baggi headlight unit is also the same as those fitted to Huskvarnas and Husabergs amongst others
The rear shock protector/mudflap is the same as a KTM 640.
Front and rear sprockets are teh same as teh Yamaha XTZ660.
Alloy wheels are a MZ item. They require a different sized spindle for each wheel though. They are very similar to CCM R30 wheels as well.
Wheel hubs are modified Yamaha units (different bearing sizes)
All engine componants are teh same as Yamaha XTZ/SZR 660.
As are starter motor and carbs.

Just looked up the reference number for friction plates and springs for the SRZ660 and the XTZ660. Same part number. Interestingly the new XT660X and R have the same friction plates as well.

The part number thay give is 508 563 (£46.50)for the friction plates and 508 694 for the springs (£7.50). Prices plus P&P. No makers name is included in teh catalogue.
