Bit the bullet, bought a new BVF/MZA carb, pretty good

Well, so I went ahead and spent £65 on a brand new BVF/MZA 30N3-1 carburettor for my ETZ251 on ebay (with some trepidation as I was not sure if I would get a dodgy clone). Looks very near to the original drawing, if not identical. MZA branding on the throttle slide casting. I raised the needle to 4th position and upped the main from 130 to 140 as I am still being cautious after my recent seizure. Fitting was pretty easy except the fit in the manifold was a bit tight, though the union surface was well machined.

Bike fired up pretty quickly and a good tickover was achieved directly by adjusting the air bypass screw. I didn't touch the pilot jet screw, left it sealed behind its nylon plug. In a steady 5 mile test ride I found the pickup and shutoff were much crisper and the overall running was a great deal smoother than my worn out original carb. Definitely a big all round improvement. Very pleased with it.
