cutting out

Postby andyj50 » Tue Dec 27, 2016 3:11 pm

hi, was hoping someone can help me out
got a ts150 when I switch the lights on the bike cuts out, so I upgraded to a new solid state rectifier today but the problem is still there, it will run on dipped beam but as soon as I switch to main the bike cuts out, any ideas thanks

sounds like a short in the high beam circuit or the switch

look for a pinched wire some where
inspect inside the head lamp shell
and the bulb may have shorted high beam to ground inside the glass bulb or has gone open
include the hi/low switch in your checks
and watch for small parts they may never be found
go to a second hand store and buy a bed sheet spread it out and work on bike on it with a piece of cardboard for an oil drip
little tiny things are easy to find on a sheet

these bikes are getting older and some the quility of the original wires was not to good

even in my 2002 rt125 the wires to the turn signal wires were routed wrong and way to short
had to drill a hole in the plastic parts and route the wires in a more direct route
the wires were so tight you could play a tune on them ..
