Gearbox oil level

Postby jam23a30 » Sat Mar 31, 2018 6:24 am

Good afternoon, new forum member looking for a bit of insight to help get my TS250/1 ready for "road trials"

I have recently acquired the MZ bug and despite reading the factory and Haynes manuals can't find any info on how to check the gearbox oil level. I believe one of the crankcase screws doubles as a upper oil level for the gearbox, can anyone tell me which screw it is?

I could drain the oil and refill with correct amount but would like to see what the current oil level is like prior to an oil change

Many thanks in advance

Hello

Unscrew the screw that is located on the left side cover of the engine. It is located under the gearchange lever (if you look at the side cover)
It is at "5 o ´clock" under the circled number 6.

If the bike is standing on the central stand , the oil should drop out a little bit of the hole. If not, you have to fill up until it does.
