Regulator

Postby KevinMul » Fri Nov 23, 2018 7:51 am

Hi I have a Mz 125 ts with the regulator gone. I bought one off eBay. Its the blue one but when I put it on I can't get it to work. I just swapped wire for wire. Has anyone had the same problem

Hi Kevin, welcome!

Personally I have no experience with the blue one, other than with Big Blue, but are you certain it's the regulator? Have you looked in a manual?

I've heard and read lots of sources that find those blue ones aren't very good.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend 6v replacements. Sorry.

I think it is the regulator because when it is running if I put on the lights or take any electrial power from the bike it will cut out

Rather than the regulator I'd suspect poor connectivity somewhere.

When it runs, what voltage do you have? Measure for instance on the battery poles when the engine idles. See what happens if you make more revs. If it goes above, say, 7.5V it could be the regulator (either busted or not connected properly), but if it stays below 7V I think the regulator is fine.

What does the workshop manual say on how to diagnose the problem?
