3D printed parts?

Postby Tony12345 » Thu Jul 11, 2019 6:12 am

Hi just asking if any one has done any 3d printed parts to replace no longer available parts
If so how well did they work? As after melting the tool box cover of my mz from a fuel leak, I got a quote of 300 to make it out of s/steel
I then had the idea to make another but printed. There are plenty of engineering places around me that also do 3d work, I figure it should be a lot cheaper and quicker to make. Most of the cover is intact, except for the back and side which has melted and cracked shouldn't be a problem to "blank" off the damaged area when inputting the data lol.

Making a fibreglass mould of something like that would be easy. Then you could make one out of fibreglass.
