Idle Question

Postby gellermpd » Thu May 09, 2013 4:10 pm

I turn to the collective knowledge to figure out am issue I've been having. It seems that my idle hasn't been consistent. On my morning ride in there is really no problem. When I start up it usually idles just below the 2000 mark. In the evening it starts up, idles about the same but when I get stopped in traffic is idles low which causes the oil light to come on. A little adjusting on the road and it is fine. Any ideas or thoughts?

Many Thanks!

if yours has the bing carb try dumping the crud out of the float bowl
and an inspection of the rubber vacuum bladder may be in order
most of my problems of late have been crap in the gas

Thanks David. I checked out the link you sent and it looks like I have the Bing CV carb. I'll give that a shot on my next rotation off. Sounds like a little work, don't want to start something in the middle of the week and not be able to finish up in a timely manner. I've been putting some carb cleaner additive in the tank every once and a while. Hopefully that will help until I can get the thing taken apart.

Many thanks,
Jim

one thing that helped my rt125 was gas without ethanol most often sold where they fuel boats
its 90 octane and costs about $4 for a usa gallon

there is almost nothing in the DC area
ask at a boat motor repair shop as to who has it
its good for the lawn mowers
