Adding a step to a Velorex sidecar

Listers: I have been looking at my sidecar, and I noticed it could be an issue for a passenger to get in the car. Not looking forward to having the paint scuffed up I have been looking around the various sidecar sites, for possible steps that can meet my needs and be attached. There does not seem to be a whole lot of options out there. I am wondering if anyone else who has the Velorex rig came up with a solution. Quite possibly I might be making a mountain out of mole hill.

had a chair on a 53 bmw wife got in it by entering between the chair and the bike

by walking on the mounting hard ware from the rear
and stepping on the seat
i found it almost impossible to enter from the right side

because it was too small for a big guy

Thanks David, will advocate that way to get into the car. Luckily will not be having 160# plus people riding in it.

Did not mean any offense, just with me at 210 plus. Any one heavier along with me would sorely tax the rig both in fuel and power. My Tresette earns every bit of gas when I take it out for a ride. I use all screaming 10hp it provides.

Listers: It has been awhile since I opened this topic. I have found a solution to my question, after surfing and lurking the web. I came upon an ad in E-Bay where this gentleman was selling his BMW with a Velorex rig. He had a step mounted on his, I asked him who made the step. It turns out to be a right passenger floorboard from a Honda Goldwing. These can be had quite cheaply via E-Bay. I have mounted the floorboard directly to the frame of the rig. My reasoning is I don't feel the frame is compromised by drilling two holes in it. Also there would be no more than 150 pounds put upon it momentarily, when used. I found the floorboard bracket had 9mm holes. I chose to enlarge them and go with 3/8 diameter. I used 3/8 x 2 1/2 grade 8 bolts and hardware. I modified the washers to fit the bracket where the bolt heads rest against. Hope this can help anyone else who wants to do this modification.
