New Tires

Postby RichBeBe » Sun May 09, 2004 8:13 pm

I picked up a used Mastiff and it had some Michelin Pilots on it. They stick like glue but for me they actually stick too much. I also took them off road twice (that was an adventure) so I am looking for new tires for it. I was thinking about trying a set of MT60R's but I am uncertain. Wondering what others are using for hard core streetriding and maybe a bit of trail riding.

we have the mt60's on ours (stnd height & reduced height). we love them! definately a compromise tire...we both are sportbikers too (run diablos on our literbikes) so we can say that the Mt60's are definately not in *that* class by a long shot...but they do seem to grip & handle reasonably well on both asphault and soft road surfaces. They get squirrelly at speeds above oh...85 or so but are fine up to that point. On gravel they give excellent feedback & grip but on mud & dirt they fall way short of knobbys like mt21's--on rock they work fine tho. I don't think you'd find much improvement in overall performance using any other tire available in 17" sizes, honestly.
The ultimate word is "I LIKE".

I really like the MT60's as well, they offer plenty of grip on the street, really good in the wet, and they slide very predictably. :D
