I'm gonna pull off the fender and guards and have them painted to match..... The M-4 is for a Mastiff but I screwed around with it changing the clamp points etc to get it to fit right.... yes the M-4 c/w a very nice mid pipe... everything just bolts togther... easy....
This pict was not long after I bought her, see how low the pipe is.......
dealerships are brain dead I'll NEVER GO BACK....... (broken side cover is a long story)

Brian ,Yours has the same trouble as my exhaust where it sits too low... Does anyone know who sells or makes a link pipe that raise the exhaust like Boysies or the Blue one posted above ( that looks one nice bike :D )

The BSM pipe sits a bit higher, but the connection is via a 3 bolt flange.

That is what I think I am looking for, a 2" slip over "dog leg" pipe with a jog in it could be used to fit a number of different cans to the bike. leave a long tail on each end so we can trim to fit. Does anyone, can anyone have some of these fabricated in stainless? I'm in for an order.

Thanks for the pic.

Not dissing the M4 - just wanna make sure I get the best pipe I can for my BP! For reference here's a link to some pics of some other exhausts.

I'll attach a good pic I found of an Italian pipe (Figaroli) on a German Baghira. Now that's a tucked-in pipe.

LOVE that color..... pipe looks cool but I'd hate to see water go into that pipe end............

hahaha  true.

Yeah, i guess it'd only take a 4-5 litres before it filled up enough to reach the motor.... with the motor shut off. Otherwise it'd just blow back out.

I'm more concerned it's a tempting thing for rugrats to drop junk into, to see how far it shoots when the bike starts up.

Mirrors

Postby hulagun » Wed Oct 06, 2004 11:52 am

I just fitted some EMGO mirrors to replace the originals. The original ones work very well, but were starting to rust a little, and they happened to sit right at SUV mirror height. I wanted some that were a little more compact, and that looked more modern.

These cost US $12 each. I had the same ones on my SV650 and they hold up well unless you hit them hard (as in a crash) or push them past their adjustment limits, then they break.

I tried these out last night and they are lower than the stock mirrors and take a little getting used to. After a half hour ride, I was used to the new position. If I could move them 3" forward I'd be happier, But they are as good as the stock mirrors where they are, and look far better to me.

Mirrors from a Honda Silverwing scooter fit really well (low stems avoids Van mirrors). a bit on the expensive side, but very well made and vibrate very little, if at all, on the silverwing. So I'm going to try one.

Trouble is the long wait for shipping-been wainting 3 weeks so far!!

this is the "before" picture the after shot is the first pict of this thread.......the outlet of the pipe is approx 1/2" below the rear turn signal....If necessary I'll post a close up

I went to that exhaust pipe link where hulagun posted......the ones that give you the sound bit sound lame to me the M-4 sounds so much better there is no comparison... Phlats single exhaust sounds like mine but higher pitched and sounds excellent !!!!!!

I'm glad you bought the MZ, looks in great nic (as the brits would say)
I know you wouldn't have liked the KTM etc you were considering, the black ones are cool but man o man that engine is a little to finicky for me.....

M4 pipe

Postby hulagun » Thu Oct 07, 2004 12:48 am

hi Brian-

Thanks, I am really happy with the MZ 660 sofar, especially since I know the Yamaha motors are built to go the distance. Also, everyone comments on it's good looks. That's worth sumthin.

Your post about the sound files made me go listen. I agree, I'd like to hear the M4. It looks to me like you managed to get yours mounted where it should be, too. How difficult was that?

I'm going to see if I can just buy the M4 y-pipe and connector from them. That way I may be able to find a canister muffler cheap used. I hate buying aftermarket stuff new.

Pro Taper bars, handguards?

Postby hulagun » Thu Oct 07, 2004 12:58 am

Just bought a set of CR Low Woods ProTaper bars. The woods bend is 2" narrower overall than other dirt bars, but the controls will all still fit.

Pro Tapers are expensive - $89 plus mounts - but I couldn't wait to find a set used. Those stock bars are too damn wide for lane "sharing".

Now need to suss out what handguards to get. I am not gonna cut my levers down. I'll find another way.

I never had handguards on a bike before. I want them for crash (sliders), impact protection (SUV mirrors), and wind protection. Not planning on hitting any tree trunks or immovable objects. Do I really need the metal braced ones, or will the thicker all-plastic ones hold up?
