Thanks Guys for your encouragement :D It will be a long slow process, but I'm loving it too.

I'm going single cylinder crazy at the moment. Having never had, or ridden, a Skorpion, I thought it was high time I found out what all the fuss is about. Courtesy of ebay, I have just purchased a nice little Skorpion Sport.Taking the train up on the 10th and riding it the 400miles back home :shock:
I'll let you know how I get on if and when I make it home 8)

A little more progress. The inlet throats to accept the oversize valves are getting there slowly.

you will be underwhelmed by the power ...
.but its like flying a little airplane they forgot to install the wings on ...

Found a piece of aluminium in my workshop 6" x 3/8" (150mm x 10mm),that I hope will prove ok to make an inlet adaptor from.

It was slow work to saw (by hand :lol:) a piece off for the job. Also used "JB Weld" to fill and reinforce the area above the small inlet port. I will tidy it and ensure the face is flat later.

Have roughly shaped the inlet manifold adaptor. I can't go very much further with it until I have decided how I'm going to mount the inlet rubbers and also the profile of the inlet ports at the head/adaptor interface.

Well done.

How about clamping up a thin layer of Plasticine or similar between the plate and the head for the port profile to be impressed into, showing where you need to remove metal?

That'll certainly work. Might just sort out inlet rubbers and their spacing and fit to the carb before tackling the port. I think I'll make an accurate gasket and use that as a guide for the manifold adaptor.

Fork seals fitted and forks back in the bike.
Also took the opportunity to fit a nice new sticky Bridgestone BT-090.

Alas have found another problem preventing me getting the bike MOT tested for the road. The numpty that fitted the tax disc holder on the right as his second choice option, presumably had the left side as first choice :(

I was going to try and build a lightweight single seat subframe at some point anyway, just not quite yet :lol:. As it has to come off anyway I can't really see the point of refitting it. It must weigh loads.

These Keihin 33's will be going on eventually. In the meantime does anyone have a lead on a pair inlet rubbers to fit the carbs? The spigots are 38mm outside diameter so the rubbers will need to be around 36mm diameter to grip the spigots nicely. Either flanged rubbers or spigotted will be fine. All the better if they come off a cheap commuter rather than a sought after racer :D

I managed to get to an autojumble (swapmeet if you're in the States) yesterday. Towards the end as sellers were packing up I chanced upon a cardboard box with assorted carb odds and sods. After a quick rummage I pulled out a couple of inlet rubbers that looked like they might be persuaded to fit my carbs. I explained my position to the vendor who very kindly said I could have them for a pound (£1 :shock:). I was so hasty in putting the coin in his hand that I forgot to have the other two identical rubbers laying in the box for an additional pound :lol:
Upon returning home I found that the rubbers indeed fitted very nicely but would require opening out to match the 33mm bores of my carburettor.

A quick trial fit.

This was when I realised that I had inadvertently picked up a dissimilar pair. Probably an outer and a centre rubber from a 4 cylinder machine.

I had already asked the vendor if he knew what machine they were from, he didn't. I think I still have a reasonable chance of making this pair work for me, but, kick myself that I wasn't a little more thorough at purchase time. I think my childlike excitement at the low cost overrode the clear thinking that would have served me better....Oh well, we live and learn.

It's been a long time since I last updated this thread, but I have made a little more progress.

I decided I would make 2 inlet manifolds / carb adaptors. One to fit the Keihin CR33s and another to fit a Keihin FCR39, this will also easily accept the 41mm version should I ever want to.

I will post up some more later.
