it seems to be a real fuel pump on 1 mz 660 i have seen in the usa
my traveller did not have a pump or a vacuum shut off valve
you may find an electric shutoff or install a manual one
i would use a manual one as gas in the oil is not a good idea

the diaphragm pump is a cheap solution to a problem,
Yamaha stopped using this design on the later 850 TDM and fitted a proper electrical pump,
the SZR needs a pump of some sort as the bottom of the fuel tank is below the float bowls
i used one from an FZR600 on my FZR, when you turn the ignition on you hear the pump run for a few seconds then stop
