More Petcock

Being thoroughly fed up with having to remove the standard Skorpion fuel tap each time the fuel tank had to be removed, I made up a straightforward fitting to replace it.

I turned a piece of 2 inch 7075 Aluminium round bar in the lathe and then drilled the mounting holes.

Finished off by shaping using hand tools.

It was quite a bit lighter than I anticipated, which was a bonus.

Of course the above is now used in conjunction with a quick release coupling which weighs just 15 grams. All in all a worthwhile little job that should maintenance tasks just a bit less of a faff.

Thanks Mate. The fuel coupling was purchased from Kayla at Projection components.
They seem to be widely available on the internet.

Beautiful job.
Though not sure why you cannot take the tank off without removing the fuel tap.
Never had a problem in the thirteen years that I had my Traveller.

Don't know of three different fuel taps, mine was same as in sanddune51's photo.

I just needed to be careful lifting & replacing the tank, as the fuel tap rubbed against the wiring harness.
