MZ/MuZ Riders

Spotted by a friend as I had the fairing off to check the valves. Has this happened to anyone else? Is it a known issue?

I dropped it off at a machinist to get a quote on making a new one. Anyone have one to sell?

I have 4 Skorpions - see below.

Never seen that before. must have been in some type of blunt impact!

I don't have a spare but I'll keep an eye out.

Thanks Doug. I was a bit suspicious when I found nothing but top triple trees on EBay.

you must ride down here where i live in west central West Virginia
i did that to a 1972 bmw and had to also replace both wheel bearings that were cracked and the axle just to be safe
my wrists and elbows were sore for weeks
inspect your wheel bearings to be safe and the Neck bearings as well

And the welds on the head tube! I might even go as far as having it stripped stained and inspected before riding again. Must have taken a mighty hard hit to do that to the triple clamps.

I've been over it with the ol' hairy eye. No damage anywhere else that I can see. Not anal enough to strip it down and have it inspected. I'm betting it was over-torqued by the typical idiot ham-fisted mechanic.

Dave: hopefully, we can meet up sometime. I have a very good friend who lives in Parkersburg. Excellent mechanic who is currently working on a clients '29 Triumph. Also, we had a guy from your area come up to our monthly meet on his '39 Harley UL. You should come up sometime.

the meet in south pa i think just north of Morgantown WV seen it on Craigslist last summer
if i get some thing ready to run i may make it some time this summer
its almost 160m 1 way and i ware out real fast of late

went 240 round trip today to pick up a radio and i am beat

might be worth just checking torque setting of the other bolts,could have been a bit to tight

That's what I'm thinking. Guzzi had a run of bad triple trees, and so did Aprilia, I think. It might be worthwhile for folks to occasionally inspect theirs to make sure cracks aren't developing.

Last summer, the Skorp was a hell of a vibrator, so I plan to check engine mount torque, too.
