Skorpion Intermitten Rear Turn Signal

Postby Bluejay » Thu Jun 13, 2019 8:52 pm

Ok, this one has me stumped. My right rear turn signal has been working intermittently for the past month; this week it stopped entirely. Everything else works fine, including the front right signal. The front and rear are tied together, right? They share the same terminal on the flasher unit; so the only thing it could be is wiring from there back... unless there's something I'm missing. The rear-most wiring for the right rear is getting no power. I can't find any visible damage to the harness, but I have yet to pull the body panel off and really go over it. Before I do that, is there something else I'm missing? A diode in the circuit? If the flasher can power the front, then it's not to blame, right? I've checked the connectors in the headlight housing, in case the circuit wanders up there and back again, and they all look clean and intact.

Earth is isolated via its own wire, so no local mechanical connection to the chassis. Looks like I'll be pulling the body panel and following the yellow brick road...

I just noticed how I spelled "intermittent." Wait... is that an acceptable German spelling?

I've determined the problem is somewhere ahead of the gas tank. I checked the Molex connector in the headlight housing, and it has good signal. I ride the bike every day, so until I get the time to trace it further, I've run a wire from the Molex to the most accessible point under the seat and, for the time being, I have a right rear turn signal... The question that remains is, where else does that circuit go, between the headlight housing and the gas tank?
