Dear All,

Just recently, I noticed that I needed to check the oil level with the condition in which the oil dip stick was screwed into the engine. Before, I was checking the level without screwing it in, because my moto in Japan doesn't need to be screwed in, when oil level is checked.

Anyhow, Maybe my previous condition would have been too much oil quantity. According to the maintenance manual, it must not exceed the upper level. So, I adjusted the level between lower and upper limit with screwed in condition.

However, in the situation, the time to turn off oil pressure warning lamp, became longer. It is almost 2 to 3 seconds. In my previous oil level condition, it was less than 1 second. Just after starting engine, the lamp turned off.

So, can I know the general time to turn off the lamp for MZ125? Is 2 to 3 seconds too long? Once after starting engine, it can turn out less than 1 second for next starting engine within a few minutes.

mine flickers at idle when warm if the oil has not been changed for a long time
or i have ran it at full speed about 500 miles on a weekend

i stand bike upright and top up to bottom of threads in the fill hole

and change it about every 2500 miles or after i flog the crap out of it on a road trip
ten hours at 9,500 rpm is hard on the oil
but it still runs good at 20,000 miles just be sure to change the oil and filter

Oh, I see, your lamp flickers at idle. . .
In your case, how long does the lamp needs to turn off or start to flicker?
After pushing a starter button, once engine run, mine needs 2 to 3 seconds to turn off.
I worry whether my oil level is too low, so that the engine is taking damage until the oil pressure lamp out.

I guess "much" is better than "less". But "too much oil" prevents the engine from rotating smoothly also. And "too less" can break the engine at all.

if it goes out in 5 sec or less i would say its probably OK

mine only flickers when the oil is getting old or i have ran it hard for several hours
after the hard running i always change the oil

Thanks for your information very much.

The last weekend, I checked the oil level in complete stable upright position. Before, I checked the oil level after it's standing up to the vertical and laying down to the side stand again. In the case, some wave may have effected the level.

However, even though after pouring a little of oil, the lamp went out after 2 seconds of starting engine. But I agree what Dave commented, less than 5seconds would be OK.
