possible kick stand problem..

wondering if any has had this issue or know a way to fix this but since the weekend my bike has had a few problems, personally im sure its related with the kick stand...

after starting the bike up in neutrol it warms up no problem soon as i take it off the kick stand and its fully up/off i then select the first gear, as soon as this goes into gear it cuts out.
same applies when the stand is down turns over nicely in neautrol (still with the stand down) i knock it into first it cuts out as its designed to do.

the problem happens almost everytime i want to set off. i hope somebody can help thanks

I've had the same problem a Kawasaki, Disconnect the switch, and see if it still happens, if it does short out the wiring loom with a bit of wire, and try again. If it will then run in gear with the sidestand down the switch is obviously faulty. I "fixed" the Kawasaki in this way, by removing the switch compleatly, just have to remember to kick the sidestand up before I drive away.

how do i disconnect the switch? im not to familiar with motorbikes etc... that's why i work in I.T lol

is it possible you could give me a step by step guidence, as i say this really isnt my strongpoint...

It will be connected to loom by either bullet/spade connectors, or a snap together plastic block, just seperate and poke a bit of wire into the loom side to short out. Don't forget to switch off first to prevent blowing a fuse. Make sure you have the bike supported with the rear wheel off the ground so you don't end up in a heap when the engine starts up in gear!

yeah that was definatly the faulty, stuck a bit of wire in the connectors fired the bike up after a bit of charge and now works....
just need to remeber to kick the stand up before setting off :wink:
