New member, some questions SM 125

Postby MZ125 » Sat Mar 30, 2013 5:50 am

Hello to all,

just joined this forum, hope for some good conversations. I'm located in germany. Didn't find a "New Member" thread, hope it is okay if I post here.

My son's bike is a 2004 SM 125 (I have a Yamaha FZ1 gen1). I did a lot of work on his bike and started to document it on my homepage. Maybe some here are interested to have a look to it. It's all german but a lot of telling pictures. On any questions I will answer in english (sorry upfront if some wordings sound strange, I'm far away from beeing a native speaker).

I'm quite talented in electronics and did a lot of investigations and measurements on all the ignition topics. Maybe someone can make use of it.

Over here we had a 80kmh restriction until begin of this year. Now this is dropped and I'm trying to find a unrestricted CDI (those without the speed sensor input). So if anybody has such a CDI to sell please give me a note.

What about other countries? Was this 80kmh thing a german-only idea?

Best regards,
Christian

Try here, http://www.grahamsmotorcycles.com/2010%20WEB%20SITE/MZ_SPARES_MENU.htm they list 3 different cdi units. You'll find them in the battery and devices section.

i think the speed limiter was a Germany only cdi
keep in mind that the rt125 is fast for a 4 stroke bike
so watch that speed or it will bite you
as its very light weight can make it a bit quick
above 100kph

thanks for the link to the timing chain fixing
as mine is in need of inspection and work
as its at 20,000 miles 32,186.8 kilometres
